CallTrackingMetrics Celebrates Customers and Earth Day by Supporting Baltimore Bay Restoration
MILLERSVILLE, Md. – CallTrackingMetrics, a leading call-tracking and analytics provider based in Millersville, has joined communities around Baltimore in finding innovative ways to support recovery initiatives after the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
On April 16th, a team of CallTrackingMetrics employee volunteers spent a day at Chesapeake Bay Foundation‘s (CBF) oyster restoration center in Shadyside, MD. They bagged recycled oyster shells that will have oyster larvae set on them before being replanted into the Bay.
This volunteering was part of CallTrackingMetrics’ Customer Appreciation Day activities. The recycled shells bagged during this service day can host up to 600,000 baby oysters in their first year and many more in the years to follow as we work to rebuild reefs in the Bay. The company also included a monetary donation to CBF which will support the planting of 250,000 new oysters, with a single adult oyster able to filter up to 50 gallons of water per day — meaning up to 12.5 million gallons of Bay water could be cleaned through this investment.
“We were honored to get our hands dirty in the oyster restoration efforts as a way to simultaneously celebrate our customers, observe Earth Day and support the Baltimore community during this challenging time,” said Erika Rollins, VP of Marketing and CX at CallTrackingMetrics.
Oysters are a keystone species that filter pollutants and excess nutrients, helping restore and maintain the Bay’s ecological balance. By replenishing oyster populations through restoration efforts, CBF aims to strengthen the ecosystem’s resilience.
“Native oysters are crucial to the health of the Chesapeake Bay, but their populations have declined to just a fraction of historic levels,” said Kellie Fiala, CBF’s Maryland Oyster Restoration Coordinator. “Corporate support and, equally important, employee volunteerism like this from CallTrackingMetrics is vital for our ongoing work to improve the Bay’s water quality. Rebuilding oyster reefs and restoring the Bay’s oyster population takes a village.”
The oyster bagging event exemplifies how local businesses can play an important role in supporting meaningful environmental initiatives for the greater Baltimore community.
